Glassware Design

In 2017, I brought an idea to Georg Riedel, the 10th-generation president of Riedel, that his company had never considered in 270+ years of business: a line of glasses designed specifically for cocktails. Every glass Riedel had ever made was built around wine. The way a vessel's shape, volume, and rim diameter affect aroma, temperature, and taste is well understood in the wine world. Nobody had applied that same thinking seriously to mixed drinks. That was the gap.
What followed was a multi-year collaboration with the Riedel design and engineering teams to translate that concept into a working collection. The Drink Specific Glassware line was built from the ground up around the structural and aromatic demands of cocktails, with each glass engineered for a specific category of drink rather than adapted from an existing form. Bringing the line to market required the combination of my background in cocktail craft and bar operations and Riedel's centuries of expertise in glass design, manufacturing, and global distribution. Neither side could have produced the result alone.
A second collection, BAR Rituals, followed in Spring 2026, also developed in collaboration with the Riedel team. Where DSG was designed around the working bartender, BAR Rituals was developed for interior designers, architects, and the home bar enthusiast, with a stronger emphasis on the visual and tactile rituals of preparing and serving a drink. Together, the two collections represent a category Riedel had never made before, designed and built in partnership over nearly a decade.
